 i can't get Archives and Calendar to work smoothly without modifying the
 functions they call...

 but i got some weird neat ideas i'm playing with for Recent Comments - so
 maybe i'll see how far i get with that fun before i make version 0.4 where
 i use 'publicly_queryable' instead of 'public'
