 Replying to [comment:11 wpmuguru]:

 extensively prior to the [14010] being committed to trunk including being
 an agenda item at at least one of the weekly dev meetups in IRC.

 The fix is backwards compatible and the privacy concerns were not resolved
 in [14010].
