Comment:

 Curious to know... I realize this is one of Matt's pet features, but this
 ticket, on the top of my head, has one of the highest number of votes in
 trac -- if not the highest. It's a f*cking outrage that it's getting so
 little attention by committers, on a project that is supposed to be driven
 by community members.

 Could this ticket get any kind of traction before 3.1 gets released
 please? There are only so many alternatives:

  - A committer can remove this garbage and begone with it once and for
 all.
  - We can use extensive regexp'ing and fix any underlying issues that
 remain, at the cost of slowing WP down even more but with the benefit of
 keeping Matt happy.
  - A committer can close the ticket as wontfix, telling the community to
 have it up theirs.
  - Committers can leave the ticket open, telling the community to have it
 up theirs with sand and gravel.
