Comment:

 These sound like worthwhile improvements for a future version of
 WordPress.

 They are not changes we would make between RC and Release - we need to
 focus on small changes to fix bugs in new features and regressions.

 Marking as Future Release and needs-patch.

 If someone creates a patch for this feel free to mark against the 3.1
 milestone or alternatively champion this change when we go through the
 select process for 3.1 features in a few weeks time after 3.0 is released.
