Comment:

 I cant duplicate this.

 All images under 940px wide are not used for the header

 Images from 200 through to 1000px high at random intervals work (as long
 as they're >= 904px wide)

 I cant find any resolutions which causes it to use smaller images as the
 header, including the ones you've quoted.

 Closing as worksforme unless someone else can duplicate it?
