 After playing a while to get this to work better based on the feedback
 above I am going to back this patch out for now.

 We need to cope correctly with different post_types and be congnicent of
 the rules regarding hierarchical / non hierarchical post types.

 I guess we are going to need to leverage the code in
 {{{wp_unique_post_slug}}} more.

 Maybe we need to extend it to let us know when it detects a collision.
