 Use a div element with a .header class for the first h1, then an h1 nested
 in a .article. Should work on the main page, and on singles/rest-of-site.
 Or do a HTML5 child theme/derivative. I plan on doing the latter someday,
 but just as a learning exercise.

 You can use multiple h1 elements in HTML4, but that doesn't mean I'd ever
 want to.  What you are suggest is what people have been doing and what I'd
 like to see and easy way to not do without copying code.
