Comment:

 Ryan's spot on -- log messages are the proper place for this. Parts of the
 code marked off can discourage other contributors, and also becomes
 unmaintainable when lots of people touch lots of code. (Look at SVN
 blame!)

 Subversion also tracks credit through commit messages:
