 I've been watching this with curious interest since #13583

 It does seem that this addition causes unnecessary annoyances whilst not
 really adding core benefit.  Surely this should be the plugin, rather than
 people having to add a plugin to remove it?

 There's a lot of talk around what should sit in plugin land and what
 shouldn't, and I very much feel that were not Matt behind this one, there
 could be no justification for it being part of core.
