Comment:

 It took about 30 seconds for nacin to reject this shitty patch on grounds
 both general [1] and specific [2]. :-)

 Ultimately this is a duplicate of #12668.

 [1] without really good custom comment type support, doing nasty things
 like this just papers over problems, providing a false sense of security
 [2] unintended consequences, particularly at RC3 point. former release
 manager commits epic release management faux pas.
