Hey guys. I think a lot of the ideas being discussed here are touched upon
/ implemented in a plugin called the NAVT List Plugin (
 http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-navigation-list-plugin-navt/
). The plugin is extremely functional in its design, but very buggy and
it's future life is questionable. (we can’t get it to install on brand new
WP installations, but older installations that started with older versions
of the plugin work fine except for lots of random bugs).

I bring this up because I believe that it's UI screen and layout already
incorporate a lot of the ideas being discussed and might be worth taking a
peak at. I believe It may be a very good starting point when discussing
the menu UI or at least as a reference wire frame.

Since I can’t do the plugin justice with words, I have created a quick
video showing the features we find the most important and giving a quick
look at how we incorporate it into our sites. You can view the video here:

My hope in posting this is that it may give another perspective that can
positively affect the UI design as is discussed in this ticket. Thanks!
