 Going off this, how are rewrite rules going to be handled?  I've just
 started diving into the rewrite API, which is has sparse documentation,
 and have come close to ripping my hair out a few times.

 I love how this is handled with custom taxonomies via a `rewrite` argument
 in `register_taxonomy()`.

 I don't know if there are plans for adding to this or if we're just
 leaving it up to plugin authors.  But, if it isn't easier to use, few
 users will ever take advantage of custom post types.
