 Supposedly, the problem here is that the licencing terms of the library
 are not clear or that they are not clearly stated.  It that is so, how can
 you then take the author’s role and supply the linencing terms yourself?

 Are the licencing terms clear or are they not?

 The WordPress package is complex enough as it is.  We don’t need to start
 changing things in the licencing terms of third-party libraries.

 I suggest to leave this as is.
