 Well the way I'm thinking of doing it would be "temporary" in that the
 hacks would only exist during the import, and technically the columns that
 I'd be using aren't available from imported LJ data, so there's "no"
 downside (that I can see?), assuming the importer cleans up after itself
 properly.

 Would be largely copy-paste from post-meta stuff I assume, but I wonder if
 there's enough call for comment meta to warrant it going into core?
