 Revision 3 out now. Fixed a bug in the quote function, added more
 testcases and we're now able to remove the @-operator for performance
 reasons. That will give us more speed, that @ operator is a real blocker.

 Additionally I merged the improvements over from #11605 into this for even
 mroe speed in case a user wants to use escape.
