 Considering how easy this is to put together as a plugin, if there was
 demand I suppose there would be plugins already for it and they would be
 popular.

 (I’m talking about the http://example.com/?p=123 solution, of course, not
 about fancy stuff.)

 But probably I’m wrong and you’ll become famous with minimal effort. :-D
