 crappy. it mindlessly compresses audio files, video files, pdfs, etc.
 those are already compressed, and compressing them prevents some user
 agents to process them correctly. with the one I suggest, we only compress
 html/xml/css/js files.
 Can't pdfs be gzipped? But I take your point about compressing things
 which shouldn't be.
