 And I just put a return; within request(). It's blazing fast now. It's not
 a fix, but at least we know where the problem is.

 Also, I've just contacted the host so they can fix connections to
 wordpress.org, outside connections aren't blocked since we use lots of
 feeds and API's. Only wordpress.org seems to time out.
