 (In PHP5, the harder thing is to get a copy of the original object...
 requires some tricky code to get a copy in a way that's compatible with
 both PHP4 and PHP5)

 As I suggested above, if this is misunderstood in this case, (and I admit
 I never looked into this myself until now), I suspect this could easily be
 an issue elsewhere in the code base.
