 Applying 6476.002.diff I get:
 Fatal error: Cannot unset string offsets in [...]/wp-includes/media.php on
 line 346

 Please note that I'm passing a plain shortcode: [gallery].

 Removing that line and the preceding if, the gallery shows up as expected.
