 I'm not sure I agree with the whole dark=activated, white=not activated.
 Before I read about this on the testers list, I thought of something
 similar but the opposite - keep the used plugins white, and darken the
 unused!  Greying out a button is a pretty standard way of telling people
 that the button isn't active...

 I can't help thinking that if I could make a mistake like that, so could
 other people.

 To keep it intuitive, perhaps use some sort of icon?  Even if its just a
 big green tick at the side of the row....
