 I saw that ticket before posting, but I think it is different; what I
 refer to is the POST editor in: wp-admin/post-new.php

 I was able to change its font to monospace by editing: wp-
 admin/css/global.css (this in WP 2.5)

 I find it inconvenient to use a non-visual, plain-text editor with a
 proportional font, but, if there is no demand for a change, I guess it
 makes sense to leave it as it is. :-)

 btw, the visual mode of the editor does not seem to be affected by the
 change in wp-admin/css/global.css -- but I don't know what else may have
 been affected...
