 This should enable that:

 (In [5776]) Make it possible for a plugin to replace the feed-parsing
 engine.  see: #4547

 Have your plugin hook into the 'load_feed_engine' action, include your
 feed engine and define the WP feed API functions that you want to replace.

 At least now we can have a third party solution.
