Comment:

 Going to close this for now - looks like I have managed to get my own site
 working on 2.1rc2 - not 100% sure what I did to fix it though it might
 have been a plugin. It isn't server or code related which is good news.

 It was weird how it appeared upgrading 2.04 to 2.06
