 For whatever reason, `get_option( 'update_core' )->response` is currently
 set to `NULL` on one of my latest SVN installs. This is causing no version
 number to be displayed in the footer.

 Attached is a screenshot as proof as well as a patch which makes
 `core_update_footer()` fall back to just displaying the install's version
 number if it doesn't know anything about the latest version.
