 Nobody cared to check this ticket.  Anyway, I found a workaround of sorts.

 I have to keep the Wordpress URL as http://spreadopenmedia.org but the
 Blog URL may be //spreadopenmedia.org

 Result: the site works just fine with the added plus that every Wordpress
 URL (the K2 ones are strangely not affected by it) become // as opposed to
 http://

 All's fine and well.
