 1. Wordpress should inform the user if he is pinging a server that is no
 longer in use or for some reason is rejecting his pings.[[BR]]
 2. Wordpress should automatically remove servers that keep failing.

 Are you objecting to both suggestions?

 I believe # 1 is important in order to be a good netizen. Without it,
 Wordpress users are wasting resources on ping servers without their
 knowledge. # 2 is rather a nice-to-have.

 Alternative suggestions on how to implement # 1 are welcome.
