Comment:

 This is going to take some significant rewriting to get working, I think.
 The problems still exist in 2.0.3, and aren't limited to just Previous
 Page/Next Page links being broken. If you select days, then category pages
 will display every post ever written in the category.

 The fixes which come to mind right now would wind up being fairly
 database-heavy, so I'm going to have to think about this one for a while
 longer. (I also use Days.)
