 I'm not 100% on this.  How about:

 {{{
 Instead, posts that were only assigned to the deleted category are set to
 the category <strong>%s</strong> and links that were only assigned to the
 deleted category are set to <strong>%s</strong>
 }}}

 That makes the wording more consistent with the wording in the JS alert()
 portion of your patch, which I like.
