 Due to the lack of Jetpack permissions, locale managers cannot set up a
 default image to be sent as og:image when a post is shared on social
 networks.

 Unfortunately, we can't add a featured image per blog post that could
 otherwise be delivered as og:image.

 It would be a relief for the editors on the local sites if the option
 "Featured Image" were available in the block editor.

 It is not necessary that the "featured images" also have to be displayed
 in the single view of a blog entry or not in the archive view. So there is
 no need to change the theme itself.

 My only concern with this request is that we as local managers can exert
 more influence on which image is used as og:image for the social networks.

 Is there a special reason why the option for featured images on local
 sites is disabled? I'd like to discuss that.
