 It'd probably be useful to people to sort
 https://wordpress.org/plugins/browse/beta/ by their updated dates rather
 than by active installs.

 My reasoning is that people are more interested in testing newly developed
 features rather than some of the 1+ year old plugins which exist as
 feature projects.
