 Spam posts appear to be unaffected, only pending posts are. The issue is
 that [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/4.8/src/wp-
 includes/post.php?marks=3565-3570,3575-3578#L3546 wp_update_post()]
 overwrites  the date for pending posts, unless the post already has a non-
 empty `post_date_gmt`.
