Hello,

As WordPress moves more and more into CMS territory, the "main" missing
feature, as far as I can see, when compared to Drupal/Joomla, is the ability
to assign "callouts/nodes/widgets" (whatever you like to call them), to
particular pages.

A system, a bit like WP menus, for widgets, would be a clincher for
WordPress as a CMS.

I understand there are plugins that achieve this effect already, however, my
question is ...

Is there a drive to improve Widgets handling in Core? Any tickets I can
read? Any info anyone can give?
