[wp-hackers] WP import without file upload?

Is there a way to force the Tools > Import > WordPress to work from an FTP'd file instead of working from an uploaded file? We're on a deadline for an import and have hit a bottle neck on an complex server configuration, uploading as part of the import simply won't work.
