Every developer on the planet should read The Mythical Man-Month by Fredrick Brooks. It's not a huge book, and is still in print. It chronicles the development of the IBM 360 back in the 60s and is a great read about developing code, and the perils of just throwing people or money at a problem. Yes, the 10 lines of code per day included planning, debugging, revisions, etc. It was essentially the end product divided by the number of person/days invested.

Out of curiosity... Does the 10 lines of code/day account for planning time?
