[wp-hackers] Is there a framework for auto-suggest for plugins?

I have a plugin which adds some input text fields to the add/edit post pages
(and then adds the information to "custom fields" metadata section) and am
wondering if there is a framework built into WordPress for auto-suggest
(such as on tags). And if so, how to use it.

I've looked around, and while I've found plenty of people creating their own
auto-suggest/auto-complete features, they don't use anything from WordPress
(though they do use WordPress).

If there isn't a framework in WordPress, then what would you suggest?
