Hi everyone. Most of you don't know who I am (long-time listener,
first-time caller, etc), but I work for Automattic doing user
experience stuff. I worked on the usability testing and crazyhorse
prototype over the summer before coming on full-time, and have been
following the threads related to crazyhorse/2.7 with great interest.
I just posted a PDF with some wireframes over on the wordpress.org,
for anyone who is interested.
I posted them with the hope that seeing what we're working toward
will help with some of the feelings people have expressed about not
knowing the final design. To that end, the wireframes will and won't
help. They outline the basic structural goals, and some layout
niceties that haven't been implemented yet, but they don't include
any visual/graphic design, as that is being worked on currently. When
we have pretty visuals to show, we will.
I've been doing 2.7 previews at events like BlogWorld Expo and
WordCamp, and so far the response has been overwhelmingly positive. I
know that there are some people on this list who aren't feeling it
(as one poster so eloquently put it), so I hope the wireframes will
help illuminate what we're planning. And if you still just don't like
it, well, please try to at least be nice when you flame me. :)
The wireframes are posted here: http://wordpress.org/development/

Thanks,
Jane Wells
P.S. The menus were not decided by the navigation poll. The poll
helped us get an idea of what people preferred and how they thought
about the functions in the admin panel, and some respondents made
great suggestions. We take in everyone's opinion, but the final
decisions aren't being made by the "committee" of 4000 respondents,
but by the core dev team.
