Good point - so noted on Codex "Developer Documentation" page. Both 
xref pages are now there.

By the way, ANYONE can edit the codex. Please do so if you find 
errors, think there are any new resources that should be linked in, 
have some time on your hands and want to write a help file, etc. For 
instance, I've noticed some people adding function doc pages lately -- 
THANKS -- your contributions will be greatly appreciated by future 
generations of WordPress plugin and theme developers. More work is 
needed.... There's a page of "To Dos" for developer/hacker types here, 
if you have the inclination and don't know what needs doing:
