linkcategories is a deprecated table.  Ryan was keeping it around (i.e. not
deleting it altogether) as a contingency plan... so we could abort the whole
"shared categories" thing if we wanted.

It was removed [1] from the list of "pre-checked" tables in the backup
plugin intentionally.  In 2.1, it's just deadweight.
