[wp-hackers] get_the_time(), get_post_time()

Is it necessary to have both of these functions?  get_the_time() calls 
get_post_time() and both of them filter through the get_the_time hook, 
resulting in double filtering for get_the_time().

Is there some utility that I'm missing here?
