As long as the "Pro" options are not considered WordPress core functionality being put behind a "pay-wall" then although not very pretty (possibly obtrusive) the Theme Author can argue they are simply advising the end-user there are more features in the "paid" version of the theme. These notices are in the administration panels so readers of the site will not (and should not) see these items by default.

As to the Social icons enabled by default, no that is not acceptable. Using the Author URI as an example, personally I would rather see example email addresses, domains URL etc. be much more generic such as yourname@exmple.com and http://example.com rather than anything specific to any particular Author URI or Theme URI or related email addresses.
But, in this lite version the following kind of dialog box is present on almost every page in the admin section whether it is Add New Post, Options, etc.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/441/15u6.png/

Secondly, all the default value for links(social, etc) in the theme link to the Author URI. For E.g. when the user activates the theme, the Social icons are enabled by default but they link to sketchthemes.com. Is this kind of behaviour allowed?
