My themes have been doing this for years here on .ORG. You're the
first reviewer to ever even question that. Of course a theme can
replace the default widgets with better versions. I've never had a
user complain about any issues once.<br>

I right? The de-registering of widgets and registering of
new widgets is noted properly in comments in the theme
files. There is no readme.txt. Could this issue be settled
by including a readme with a mention of this?</span></div>
