There may be a relatively simple solution to by-passing the upload checks: add a flag (read: theme tag) similar to BuddyPress themes that by-passes certain aspects of the upload checks (Theme Check, too?)<br>Then if the Theme Author chooses to use this "niche" tag; they would be required (aside from mandatory Theme documentation) to explain why they are using the niche tag in the (initial?) Trac ticket(s).<br>

Come up with guidelines and such to do it and let me handle the<br>
technical aspects. It isn't hard to add some kind of special case code<br>
to bypass the checks.<br>

Just hammer out when and why and how the process should happen and so<br>
on. What is a special case? When should they be allowed? When should<br>
they not be? That sort of thing.<br>
