To expand on my last reply ...

IF the theme author is distributing their theme from their own servers they can do as they see fit, but themes distributed from the WordPress Theme repository should use WordPress standards whether they be explicitly written or implicitly defined by similar functionality.

I would suggest to the author to use a method at least similar to the one noted by Austin Matzko if this is the case.

Cais.

On Mon, Sep 27, 2010 at 1:50 PM, Edward Caissie <edward.caissie@gmail.com> wrote:
So should I request a more WordPress-standard implementation there?

On Mon, Sep 27, 2010 at 12:11 PM, Austin Matzko <austin@pressedcode.com> wrote:

They've set up the theme so that if someone requests the URL of the
functions sub-directory, it re-directs that request to the theme
developer's site.

It's an unusual alternative to WP's core alternate approach in, for
example, the wp-content/index.php file, which just has the following:

<?php
// Silence is golden.
?>

I don't think it's a sin. If you're trying to get the web server to
list directory contents you're probably up to no good anyways.
