Also instructive on Matt's intent regarding allowing Child Themes in the repository, see <a href="http://twitter.com/photomatt/status/21772525035">this Twitter response</a>:<div><br></div><div>"<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: georgia; color: rgb(112, 30, 0); line-height: 36px; ">If the parent theme is also in the directory, and once we fix installer and UI.</span>"</div>
<div>In reply to this question: "<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: georgia; color: rgb(102, 102, 102); line-height: 36px; ">Does that mean child themes are allowed in the WordPress.org theme directory now?</span>"</div>
<div>So, it looks like we're going to need to address Child Themes sooner, rather than later. They're coming to the repository. (Which I think is great; we're just going to have to hammer out their implication on Theme reviews sooner than anticipated.)</div>

confuse users that seek in repo good theme for their websites. <br>

I would say it is live more from a Super-Admin perogative than
anything else, and could be resolved as other recent
child-theme submissions have been.<br>
<br>
If child themes are going to be introduced into the Theme
Repository I believe there are a great many things that should
be reviewed and sorted out; first and foremost, the parent
Theme Review process needs to be more solidified and stable
than the state of flux it has once again become.<br>
