[theme-reviewers] A couple of doubts about the "Make" theme and what's allowed

I think that's probably an over-simplification/over-generalization.

We allow Themes to promote their upsell versions on the Theme options page.
If a Theme integrates the Customizer and doesn't add a separate options
page, the customizer is the only valid place for such promotion. That said:
it's a subjective determination; reviewers are expected to be intelligent
and reasonable enough to use common sense to determine, subjectively, what
is reasonable.

Yes, Themes can add a credit-removal option in an upsell version, as long
as nothing in the Theme implies that the user can't remove the link on
his/her own. Again: personal preference here is that I think it's tacky.
But then, I put a credit link option in my Theme, and leave it disabled by
default. So I'm probably the one who's abnormal.

We allow a very limited amount of what could potentially be construed as
"content" to be defined by the Theme. One of those is footer copyright
text. (How could a Plugin reasonably accomplish this, and support an
arbitrary Theme? *cough* Standard Template Hooks *cough*) Another one is
"featured" content, such as slider images/text as Theme options. I don't
like this one, but there's no standard way to accomplish it. (Personally, I
use custom post meta data to flag posts or pages as "featured", and then
use post featured images, titles, excerpts, etc.)
