[theme-reviewers] Default images, Twitter demo, and an option to remove credit link?

@Chip

1: The images are generic, there is no marketing materials in them. I provided to the images in question. I did put my logo on them to demo the feature slider and what it would like with content, but they don't link to my theme shop or anything like that, and it isn't in violation of the credit link rule because its not a link.

If I'm not allowed to have a blue image with a logo on it and screenshot of my theme, then why is PageLines allowed to literally have a default image with their logo repeated multiple times for their default slider image? http://wp-themes.com/wp-content/themes/pagelines/sections/quickslider/images/image3.jpg

In our portfolio we use this for the default: http://wp-themes.com/wp-content/themes/eclipse/images/portfolio.jpg

Do I have to remove that as well?

Personally I see absolutely nothing wrong with what PageLines is doing, or what I'm doing. I think it makes it very clear to users that these are demo images that need to be replaced. I'm not sure of another way to communicate that with a royalty free image? What are my alternatives or options here? When was this guideline put in place?

Are we really going to implement this for all themes that have feature sliders, portfolios, or header images?

2: No problem. Will do.

3: Thats what I thought.

Thanks!

So, the people like you would *not* abuse the use of such images end up more restricted in what images can be used. As the images aren't intended to be promotional, but demonstration-only, surely there are some generic images that would suffice?

It is literally just a default image so that when someone previews the theme they can see the feature slider in action. The image is included with the theme (is NOT hot linked), and doesn't have any promotional copy or anything like that.

As far as I'm aware, there is nothing saying we have to provide an option to make it easier to remove the credit link in the footer. We are doing nothing to stop users from removing the link.
