Yes - that's fine.

Personally, I use the Color Contrast Analyzer desktop tool which is a 
Windows freebie from 
<http://www.paciellogroup.com/resources/contrast-analyser.html>.

I also developed an alternative online contrast analyzer at 
<http://blackwidows.co.uk/resources/color-contrast-analyser.php> which 
warns when contrast are *too* high.

needed.
