Let me preference this with I'm no expert…

Isn't the advantage of a CDN that on average, throughout the world, you would have a server close to pull the files from?  Without it, you page will always be served from the same location (say the U.S.).  But, with a CDN if you were in China you would be pulling jQuery/Fonts/Whatever fro a server that was closer.

Sorry if this is a reply to an off-topic message but I would be interested to know.
