With this in mind the standard loop iThemes proposed isn't such a bad idea.
It would really give plugins the power to hook into any theme and add extra
functionality without modifying the theme files.

Thats why we have all these plugin like themes. Poor theme plugin
separation.

Maybe we should have another look at it.
